Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) of Los Angeles was founded by Walt Disney in 1955. BBBS is a nonprofit organization that mentors youth and provides positive role models to children. Everyone who works at BBBS cares about the children. Their goal is to provide mentors for children in need. BBBS believes their work is very important and there has been continuous growth in the numbers of children signing up for a mentor with the organization. They know the program is effective through the positive feedback from children and parents. A major obstacle for this organization is funding due to the fact that they're a nonprofit organization. Interns, volunteers, and donors are needed. If you volunteer as one of these, you can help BBBS raise money in a variety of ways. Two special groups, known as the Senior Management and Finance Board, monitor the budget and make sure the money is being well spent. BBBS major goal is to serve as many children as possible. 'Bigs' and their 'Littles' become like family. BBBS is all about impacting the lives of children and showing them they can make a difference in their community. Big Brothers or Big Sisters can start helping by volunteering to become a mentor and be available to a child who needs them.
