In 1961 Buddy Dog was founded when Alfred Halper “found a terrified puppy, abandoned in a paper bag at the Sudbury town dump,” and he decided to create the Buddy Dog Humane Society. People from all over Massachusetts come to Buddy Dog to adopt their new best friends. Buddy Dog is a nonprofit organization that takes care of animals that are in need of a new home. Some of the animals at Buddy Dog have been there for over a year, and are still able to be adopted. The staff members at Buddy Dog feel great doing their job and love their work. Buddy Dog’s main mission is to give each animal a home. Also, they will not perform euthanasia on an animal unless it is considered better for an animal that is suffering. You can help by volunteering at Buddy Dog, although volunteers must be 15 years or older. Volunteers can walk the dogs, clean the animals’ cages, and do paper work. Buddy Dog takes in about 1,500 animals per year and tries to find homes for each and every one. The animals come from all over the U.S., including Puerto Rico. If you are looking for a great pet that needs great love, take a trip to Buddy Dog. The animals need your help.
